A small, stout people, Halflings organize themselves into Tribal groups, extended familial clutches that share resources, travel together and arrange marriages with other Tribes. It is not uncommon for a Halfling to leave their Tribe to pursue their own path (for a season or a lifetime), but it is much more common that a Halfling will remain in their Tribe their entire lives. Larger Tribes often split into smaller branches of the family line, and will travel separately while maintaining communications with their extended Tribal line.
Lacking formal fortifications and a cohesive governing body, Halfling life is extremely practical. While typically friendly and generous, Halflings are masters of resource management, stealth and efficiency, and will rarely waste energy or time on a task that has no obvious benefit. That isn't to say they aren't quite fond of relaxation and comfort – when the work is done, Halflings will break out the tea, wine and sweetcakes to sing and dance around a roaring bonfire until the sun comes up.
Halfling culture is dominated by the Xanzilisa. As a people that spend the majority of their time on the move, Halflings are experts at erecting and packing temporary structures, finding water and gathering food. Their crafts and customs are simple, straightforward and dependable. Their wandering lifestyle lends itself to the development of sturdy, stout and sometimes darkly humorous individuals.
